High atop the William Vale, on the 22nd floor resides Westlight. A chic wedding venue in Brooklyn. With a focus on hospitality, couples desiring an impeccable wedding day experience with scenic views often select Westlight. The space features floor-to-ceiling windows that provide a glimpse of Manhattan’s skyline. The interior of Westlight was designed by New York’s famed Studio Munge. You’ll find the venue filled with modern touches throughout. Black and white tiled flooring, brass accents, shades of yellow, and a stone bar fill the space with warmth and contemporary style. All in all, the space was designed with the modern couple in mind, and Emi and Max’s wedding day style was well suited to the unique location where they were joined in marriage.
Emi and Max are an effortlessly stylish couple, who braved the cobblestone streets of New York City during the winter, to work with me on their engagement photos. At the time I met them, it was easy to see their love for each other, all wrapped up in fashionable winter attire. The couple met the summer before their senior year of college, at a rooftop bar in the city. After five years of dating, Max knew he had found the one. He proposed to Emi along the waterfront in Dumbo just before a planned trip to London. It seems only fitting that their story began with a rooftop experience, and ultimately led them to a rooftop wedding day.
The couple began planning their Brooklyn wedding and selected Westlight as their venue. On the day of their wedding, the warm glow of the sun surrounded Westlight, creating an ideal setting for a first look on the rooftop terrace. With the Manhattan skyline off in the distance, Emi and Max enjoyed a private first look. Their fur baby, dressed in his tuxedo vest, later joined their portrait session to celebrate the moment as a family of three. Emi and Max also included their pets in other elements of their wedding day. At the bar, there were two signature cocktails awaiting guests. One named after their pup and one after their cat. Their three-tier wedding cake, crafted by Erin McKenna featured pearl detail with a feline figurine chasing the strand. It was a beautiful and symbolic way to include both of their furbabies on their wedding day.
Emi’s wedding day style was in line with the effortlessly chic aesthetic I encountered during the couple’s engagement session. Her bridal gown featured a sheer corseted top with off-the-shoulder detail and pearl adornments. Later in the evening, she opted for a silk sheath dress with sheer, fingerless bridal gloves, which were also covered in pearls. Furthermore, Max wore a black velour tuxedo jacket with silk lapels. His wedding day attire featured a mix of textures throughout, creating a look of sophistication and style.
