Come take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Taormina, Sicily in this pre-wedding day photoshoot. Melissa & Matt’s wedding was in Sicily at Belmond Hotel Grand Timeo. But the day before their wedding, we pressed pause on the wedding day festivities, just for a moment, so they could enjoy a quiet afternoon together before becoming husband & wife.
Pre-wedding photoshoots hold many similarities to an engagement session. Both photoshoots happen prior to the wedding, and both focus on telling the couple’s love story. But they also carry vast differences.
Engagement sessions are meant to capture the celebratory moments after a couple becomes newly engaged. Because engagement sessions typically happen right after becoming engaged, there is a considerable length of time between your engagement session & your wedding day. Which can be anywhere from one to two years. Oftentimes, during an engagement session, we also focus on capturing photos of the engagement ring for the first time. The photos from your engagement session can be used for your official engagement announcement, wedding website, or save-the-date cards.
But, with pre-wedding photos, the focus of the session is shifted to the lead-up to your wedding. Or, as is the case with Melissa and Matt, a pre-wedding photoshoot can even capture the excitement in the air on the day before your wedding, leaning into the celebratory feeling of the final moments before your union. The love and excitement that exists during this time is very different from becoming newly engaged. The feeling is almost electric.
If you are having a wedding away from home, your pre-wedding photos will take place once you have arrived at your location. How often will you get to say that you spent a sunny afternoon strolling through the streets of Sicily with a glass of champagne in your hand?
