This Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo Wedding in Taormina was classic meets whimsical with fun details. From the UK to Hong Kong, Melissa and Matt’s journey brought about a Sicilian summer wedding. Their day took classic but modern details and infused them with whimsy for enchanting moments throughout.

Melissa and Matt first crossed paths at the Crabtree pub in Hammersmith, London. They were both in attendance to watch the Oxford/Cambridge boat race when some mutual friends did them the honor of a proper introduction. They currently both reside together in Hong Kong. One night while enjoying a picnic at Kowloon Park, Matt asked for Melissa’s hand in marriage as they took in the astonishing sight of Hong Kong’s Symphony of Lights.

With their engagement set, the couple embarked on planning a Sicilian summer wedding at Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo. Sicily is a beautiful destination for a wedding in Italy. Near the coast of Sicily, you’ll find white sands by the warm waters of the Mediterranean and endless sunshine. Further inland you’ll experience cool summer nights in a town known for its important historical influences.

Melissa and Matt’s summer wedding combined the taste of their modern meets classic style with fun bursts of color in their florals and decor. For wedding day fashion, Melissa began the day in a timeless wedding gown designed by Thomas Lazar. During the reception, she slipped into a sparkly couture gown by Galia Lahav.

There were several moments throughout their day that brought about an air of whimsy to their union. One of the elements that their guests delighted in the most, was the bride and groom’s getaway car. The vintage sports car, which belongs to Melissa’s dad, was driven from the UK to Sicily for the wedding. Furthermore, Melissa & Matt rode in the car after they were pronounced husband and wife. With the summer sun shining down on them, their guests showered the vintage getaway car with a fragrant petal toss.
